Intelligent evaluation analysis does not need data on the position of the train path from the infrastructure manager on monorails. And that’s where most accidents occur.
Secondary safety system NavAlarm
NavAlarm is a secondary safety system designed for train lines where the unified European ETCS safety system is not in operation or is yet to be planned.
However, even with ETCS, human failure and potential collisions can occur. Therefore, NavAlarm can be used as a second - redundant - layer of safety on secure lines.
- Reliable indication of running track thanks to NavCom unit
- Increased safety even on multi-track lines
- Compatible with Level 3 ETCS
With the help of the built-in NavCom location unit, NavAlarm can reliably determine the track.
Unlike conventional localization systems (built on the basis of standard GNSS receivers), NavAlarm can increase safety even on multi-track lines.
The system is developed with regard to international standards, its compatibility with ETCS Level 3 is taken into account. Thanks to this, NavAlarm and NavCom bring international overlap and their scope is not limited to the Czech Republic.

How NavAlarm works
The location unit determines the position of the train and thus the running track in decimeters. The train transmits key information (own ID, running track ID, exact position and motion vector) to its surroundings (by radio) and to the operational control (LTE or FRMCS). If two trains are identified on the same track, an alarm is triggered.
Advantages of the NavAlarm system
NavAlarm works thanks to the precise localization and communication unit NavCom and system logic (embedded system) running in the background.
Thanks to the NavCom’s ability to communicate between the units and the built-in logic, NavAlarm can identify an impending collision even in places with an unavailable mobile signal.
Trains communicate all key information directly at a safe distance from each other and do not need any additional communication network.
